Blackrose >>I know I don't act much like a lady<< >>Blackrose was trying hard to find any sort of prey scent. Her competitive side was waking now that she was hunting with a younger warrior. She was beginning to think of ways to say that she couldn't find any prey without losing face in front of the younger warrior.
>>Luckily, he spoke up before she came to a conclusion. She turned at him, blinking as if she'd been focusing really hard the moment before. "Hmm?" she asked, allowing a short pause before responding again. "Oh yes...perhaps we'd do better if we weren't so close to the thunderpath...Or anywhere but here. My raven called when I caught it." she mewed.
>>She paused again before she remembered that he'd approached her as if he'd been watching her hunt. And amused glint appeared in her eyes. "Or were you watching me long enough to hear that?" she asked, her tone light. She looked down at mouse and the raven. "And nice catch, by the way," she mewed in a bit more of a formal tone.

\--\-----------------------------------------------------/--/ Oakstripe waited paitently for the she-cat to acknowledge his statement, seeing that she had been pretty focused before.
He nodded in agreement, remembering the raven had let off that call. Dumb birds, couldn't they be more quiet? His tail twitched as he padded onward to the border opposite of the Thunderpath's.
But he stopped when he heard her ask something. He felt his pelt prickle in an uncomfortable fashion, he had been watching her, but he had just passed by when she started.
"I heard it before I even saw you." He meowed, lieing of course, ears flicking as he looked back at her casually. "Besides, what if I was watching you hunt?" He asked curiously, a slight hint of flirtness in his meow. The tom's head tilted to the side cutely as he stared into Blackrose's eyes.
He paused for a moment "Oh, and thanks." He replied. It wasn't as good a catch as her raven, but it was well enough to feed the clan, that was all that mattered anyway.
He waited to hear her answer before going on, his eyes holding a glow of eminse curiousity. \--\-----------------------------------------------------/--/ the ooc// progress; done muse; interested post directed to; Blackrose mood of character(Oakstripe); casual and cool notes;that's okay. xP

Blackrose >>I know I don't act much like a lady<< >> Blackrose followed him towards the border. She stopped alongside him and watched him as he spoke. With a playful scoff she nodded. "I suppose that's fair. That bird was awfully noisy," she meowed, deciding to believe his reason.
>> What he said next, however, caught her a bit off guard. It was actually more the tone than the words said. She stared at him for a heartbeat, her yellow gaze sharp and curious. She looked away quickly with a shrug, acting as if she hadn't been phased. "Well....then you would've gotten to see how a real warrior leaps," she said, the teasing tone in her voice leaving no room for seriousness. Despite that, she couldn't keep a trace of surprise from her response.
>> She knew that ShadowClan cats were not particularly known for their leaping abilities. As she'd grown up, she'd heard of an ancient Clan called SkyClan with strong legs like hers that could leap like she did. Some of the older cats and elders even suspected that she might be a descendant of the ancient cats. But, because she was born and raised in ShadowClan, she doesn't particularly care what her heritage is.
>> She looked at him, her eyes still holding curiosity. She had to admit that he was pretty adorable when he tilted his head like he had. She tilted hers in a similar fashion and put on an innocent smile. "Well, were you or were you not watching me?" she teased.

>> Blackrose rolled her eyes in an exaggerated way. "Distracted," she mimicked, shaking her head playfully. "I'm so sure," she mewed. Her eyes narrowed slightly in thought as she looked back to him.
>> But she barely had any time to think the response over in depth before he went off towards the border again. She lurched into motion, stumbling slightly as if she hadn't expected him to move. She quickly fell into her normal gait, falling into place beside the younger warrior as if she wasn't still a bit confused by his answer. Distracted...distracted by what? The scent of the bird? The sound of the bird's call? Something else entirely?
>> ....Me? the more feminine bit of her personality chimed in her voice. Her heart jumped as the possibility came up, but her computer didn't falter like it had before. She pushed the thought away and looked at Oakstripe. "So are you liking being a warrior so far?" she asked. It was an attempt to start conversation and a rather lame one in the dark coated she-cat's eyes.
>> Of course he liked being a warrior, she'd never met a cat that didn't enjoy being a warrior. She sighed softly and looked down at her snowy paws, admiring the way the two colors of her pelt contrasted so sharply. She quickly caught her mind wandering and focused on Oakstripe again.

\--\-----------------------------------------------------/--/ Oakstripe's black tipped tail twitched back and fourth as he dragged along. Upon hearing the quick foot-steps behind, he knew Blackrose had caught up.
His ears twitched as he looked at her without turning his head. "As a matter of fact, I do actually." He meowed, face not showing anything but calmness as she watched the leaves fly by when a breeze blew from the east.
He wondered if that was just a simple and easy question to cover up the she-cat's lack of thought. Atleast it's not that awkward silences, I sure hate those. The tom thought, now heading into an open field, with fewer trees and many bramble bushes around. "Well, maybe we'll have some luck in here.." he murmmered, mostly to himself, ears twitching as he stared around the waste land basically.
He opened his mouth to scent the air, catching a faint scent of the patrol that came through at dawn, and then the scent of mouse. again? He thought, glad that it was too!
"ha ha." He stated, tail twitching as he crouched down quickly, his muscles rippling under his broad shoulders as he stalked closer to where the scent carried him. He watched with focused yellow-green eyes, hoping the mouse would reveal itself. gahh..it must be in it's burrow The tom thougth, irritation prickling his pelt as he stood up once again, ears angeling in different directions, hoping to hear or see some other movement that might be prey.
It's new-leaf for StarClan's sake! Where is all the prey...? The tom thought, the wind blowing again as his long fur ruffled. Sighing, Oakstripe padded back over to Blackrose, to see if she'd caughten the scent of something, any prey, even a lizard would be better than just nothing. \--\-----------------------------------------------------/--/ the ooc// progress; done muse; interested post directed to; Blackrose mood of character(Oakstripe); irritated and curious notes; meh EDIT: Lawl! >> The dark she-cat nodded slightly at his answer. She could've guessed he would say that. After all, he didn't seem like the type that would want a different path. She sighed and pushed her thoughts away as they reached their apparent destination. At least her companion had stopped at the edge of an open field. She looked around and took a deep breath, but the only thing she scented right off te bat was the fading scent of the dawn patrol.
>> He had her attention when he dropped into his hunter's crouch. Oh good, at least he's finding things, she thought as she watched him stalk forward. After a moment, she could sense the irritation coming from him and guessed that whatever he'd been hunting was beyond his reach. Her tail flicked sympathetically as he stood back up and she turned her attention back to hunting.
>> A warm scent reached her nose, though it was a bit unusual, considering where they were. Her yellow eyes quickly focused on the source of the scent; a skinny brown rabbit about halfway across the clearing. She stared at the creature longingly, knowing full well that she didn't have the speed to catch it. Her stocky frame and strong legs were built more for stalking and jumping after prey. She guessed that this rabbit had ventured here from WindClan territory because it wasn't to often that one saw a rabbit anywhere near the swamp.
>> She glanced over at Oakstripe, a bit of hope in her gaze. "Do you think you're fast enough to get it?" she asked. Warmblooded prey like rabbits, mice and birds would probably be better for the queens and elders than ShadowClan's normal prey like toads and lizards.

\--\-----------------------------------------------------/--/ Oakstripe stood by his partner, his narrowed eyes scanning around the field. nothing here but-...wait. what's that? Oakstripe's gaze flickered back to the certain spot he thought he had seen movement.
His ears perked up as he realized it was a rabbit. must have come up here from WindClan territory. The young warrior betted, staring at the skinny-furred creature curiously. He looked to Blackrose right as she spoke. 'Do you think you're fast enough to get it?'
He was about to ask the exact same thing..... weird.
Oakstripe's eyes went back to the rabbit, who was now just sitting there, looking lost it seemed. He calculated the distance and his speed power. He was pretty fast, atleast, he supposed. Once when he was an apprentice he had caught a runaway squirrel that came from ThunderClan territory. He supposed rabbits couldn't be as fast as the hyper active squirrel character.
And of course, he wasn't going to let this precious prey escape. It was much needed for the clan, and secondly, he wasn't going to look like a newly apprenticed feline, who didn't have the guts to even try to capture this creature.
Oakstripe licked his chops and his eyes narrowed. "I suppose I'll give it a try." He meowed slowly, seeming to be judging his chances on catching the skinny fast-runner. I just hope my thick fur doesn't slow down my running. The tom thought, sighing as he started off toward the rabbit, thinking back to when his mentor told him about catching faster prey then yourself.
eh boy, I don't even remember what he told me. The tom thought, ears flicking as he lowered down and started creeping the rest of the way toward the unknowing rabbit, making sure to keep on silent paws.
He got ready to sprint off if the rabbit noticed him before he got there, it would probably head to the WindClan border. I won't let it get a badger-length within the border. Oakstripe thought confidently.
Getting closer, Oakstripe was so concentrated on the brown object, that he didn't notice the wind change. The breeze blew from from behind, causing his scent to whiz past the rabbit's nose. He was angry to see the rabbit's whiskers twitch and it's powerful back legs shoot him off toward the right. great! It's scented me. Oakstripe thought, muscles tensing as he shot after it. He was so close to having it before! Just a couple more tail-lengths and he would have been in leaping distance.
The russet furred tom was streaking past bushes and ferns, right behind the white-tailed annoyance. But the annoyance was important, and he wasn't going to let it get away! His eyes were stuck on the prey's white tipped tail as he kept behind.
how do WindClan cats do this? he thought as he kept chasing. they must have long legs to be able to captu- oh no! It's close to WindClan border! The young warrior's paws pounded against the ground, attempting to out-run the rabbit.
come on...just abit more.... Oakstripe was starting to get tired, he had been running for at least a minute and a half, he wasn't built for this kinda running!
He was now a whisker behind the rabbit, literally shadowing the thing. He took a chance and lunged for it's scruff, claws unsheltering and white teeth flashing out as he tackled it. He felt his teeth sink into the scruff, and his paws pinning down the soft-furred creature to the soil.
He thought quick and kept it down, feeling it struggle to break free. Oakstripe quickly targeted it's neck, sharp fangs switching and sinking into the warm-blooded flesh. Feeling it go limp, Oakstripe knew he had killed it. finally
His sides heaved as he caught his breath, all the running had drained his energy temporary. His claws re-sheltered as he stood up straight, eyes focusing back on the world around him. now then, I should get back to Blackrose. The tom concluded, stooping down to pick up his catch. His ears pricked as he breathed in through his nose. It was a different scent then what he knew.
oh no! He thought, his eyes suddenly showing realization. He took another look around and just as he feared, he had crossed the border, he was now standing on the edge of the WindClan border. fox-dung
He cursed, pelt bristling in worry as he prayed no WindClan patrol was about to accuse him of stealing. Maybe no one saw me...I need to get back. Oakstripe thought briskly, turning tail, his movements sharp as he padded toward ShadowClan territory. He had gotten pretty far into WindClan, he was almost twenty yards away!
He didn't see Blackrose anywhere, and hadn't seen any WindClan eyes, perhaps he would be luck! Sure he was technically stealing a rabbit from the WindClan cats, but it had run over here from ShadowClan. His tail was low as he carried the light-weighted rabbit onward, feeling like a dumb dog. \--\-----------------------------------------------------/--/ the ooc// progress; done muse; woo, it's coming back! lol post directed to; Blackrose mood of character(Oakstripe); worried and feeling mouse-brained notes: woo, go drama! lawl

>> Blackrose watched as Oaktail thought it over, amazed that the rabbit was sitting as still as it was. She nodded and smiled when he said he'd at least try. That was really all any cat could ask for in this sort of situation. Besides, the black and white warrior had never really thought of herself as the demanding type...at least not when it came to things like hunting. She could only be considered demanding when it came to behavior and actions.
>> She watched him sneak up on the rabbit before both hunter and prey darted off. Blackrose was surprised, thinking the action rather sudden until she noticed that the wind had changed out of Oaktail's favor. She hesitated for a moment before dashing off after the warrior and rabbit, ready to help if she could and if he needed it. She managed to keep up enough to see the tip of the yoounger warrior's tail as he chased his prey, but she was no where near as fast as him.
>> She began to lose sight of him just as she noticed they were nearing the WindClan border. She prayed to StarClan that he caught the rabbit before it made it over the border. She slowed down at the border and pranced at the edge, scanning the landscape for Oaktail. She finally spotted him coming back her way with the now dead rabbit in tow and her eyes lit up with annoyance and slight worry.
>> She waited until he was within earshot before addressing him. "You got it," she remarked. "But you can bet that Onestar's going to hear accusations of ShadowClan stealing prey at the next gathering," she sighed and shook her head. The rabbit had started out on ShadowClan territory and warm prey was warm prey, regardless of how it was caught. "Let's just get away from the border before we're noticed here," she mewed, turning back towards the more swampy turf.

\--\-----------------------------------------------------/--/ Oakstripe cursed himself again as he met Blackrose's unpleased face. He couldn't talk at the moment with the rabbit in his jaws, but he knew Blackrose was right.
He followed his clan-mate away from the border, tail twitching in uneasiness. Maybe his scent would carry off with the breeze out of WindClan territory before any cat notices he had ever put paw there?
But the hope was doubtful. Sighing mentally, Oakstripe padded beside Blackrose, ears prickled for anything, like paw-steps, bounding behind them. The worst thing that could happen is a WindClan patrol had seen him, and were ready for a fight.
Oakstripe wasn't one to break the rules, but the rabbit had been on ShadowClan territory first. Well, he'll find out if he had been scented or not at the gathering, that is, if Onestar let him go.
Suddenly he wondered if Blackrose would tell someone in the clan that he had crossed the border... No, it was unlike her character to rat on someone such as himself, eh, he guessed.
Starting to relax as they both became out of sight of the border, Oakstripe stopped and layed down the rabbit, it starting to feel like a heavy weight on his neck. He paused for a long while before saying something, that didn't sound like it came from a foxes' mouth. "I'm sorry, alright? But what would you have done?" He started, pelt prickling as he looked toward Blackrose, His bad attitude was showing, which he dreaded, he got this way when he was in a rather untidy situation.
His glowing yellow/green eyes showed irritation, not at Blackrose, but mostly at himself. Feeling bothered by his unruliness has got him all tail twisted, and it will bother him the rest of the day. He waited tensely for her to say something. She could have at least been grateful he caught it; it wasn't everyday a rabbit snuck onto ShadowClan land. He looked away after awhile, expression unreadable. \--\-----------------------------------------------------/--/ the ooc// progress; done muse; going good post directed to; Blackrose mood of character(Oakstripe); irritated notes: is this more drama I see?

>> Blackrose trotted ahead of Oaktail, keeping silent. If his scent blew away before any WindClan cat scented it, then she was willing to forget he'd crossed the border. She wouldn't tell on him, that wasn't her style. In fact, she hated tattletales. When he stopped, she also stopped and turned around to face him. She seemed vaguely surprised when he apologized.
>> She took a deep breath, trying her hardest not to react negatively to his obvious irritation. She didn't blame him for crossing the border, she'd been caught up in the hunt like that before. She knew that it was hard to notice something like a border when you're focused on catching your prey. She looked at him for a moment before responding. "Don't be sorry, it wasn't your fault," she mumbled.
>> She paused again before continuing. "Besides, I can't say that I would've done anything different if I was fast enough to catch a rabbit," she mumbled. Her tail swished slowly back and forth. She bristled slightly when he looked away.
>> When he was all irritated and aggressive like this, her first reaction was to react aggressively to defend her pride. She was trying pretty hard to remain calm so she didn't irritate him more. Even if she was feisty and argumentative at times, she knew better then to push his buttons at the moment.
